A thought about human behavior

Over centuries we have always learnt to appreciate devotion/near obsession to things like arts, sports, music etc. I feel the reason is because these activities are such that at one could push himself/ herself to excel and only variable that could affect it is the amount of effort put in achieving it.We have named this particular trait as persevernce, hardwork and grit, never say die attitude etc etc etc... All this mainly attribute to the kind of relationship a human shares with a particular activity. People who achieved excellence in these activities werre rendered as genius , prodigies and what not!!! All of a sudden when i was musing over this i realized that most of them are extremely indivudual achievements.Galileo,Mozart, Beethoven , Federer, Connors, Picasso, Remembrant, Sachin Tendulkar, Don Bradman and many more have pushed themself to the edge to deserve the accolades . You might argue that it is not indivudual and that it does require a lot of family support and luck. But what overrides in all these peoples achievements is the drive to excel and personal conviction. Basically Self driven achievements

On the other hand are people devoted to other people. I am talking about both personal and social relationships. Ironically for such people the recognition comes too late though the amount of effort put in by them is tremendous and involves a lot of other factors apart from sheer hardwork. It involves dedication , trust , understanding , sacrifice and lot of other complicated human factors to keep the relationship going. People like Mother Teresa, Nelson Mandela, Gandhi , Wangari Mathai, are a few who did get acknoledged later on in their lives. On the personal front, I have known people who have spent years trying to build a relationship but it just never seems enough. Human relationships are so whimsical that no amount of effort from an indivudual can guarantee success , it is always mutual and unless reciprocated it just bounces back at the person like a boomerang. Here again there is a catch and a very thin line of difference between the activity achievers and the people pacifiers . While both these genre remain extremely self driven to achieve their goals the latter's motivations are more external oriented.
There are disagreements which one of these people are the greatest and it still continues.

But my attempt here was to just illustrate how indivudual activity achievements are different from people and community related achievements. I hope i have been successful. I am open to feed back.
